Jane Rosenthal and CHANEL commissioned Scott Thrift to create a short experimental film for the Tribeca Film Festival Art Awards. The goal was to communicate the festival’s unique tradition of giving original signed artwork in place of trophies, as an ongoing effort to celebrate the “diversity of the incredibly rich art that is part of the fabric of New York City”.
Scott Thrift took this challenge and created a 3 minute experimental film which brought the artwork to life and created a collected sense of mythology in the moments before being the art was distributed to the winners. The production involved the creation of a imaginary gallery space and mixed media, overhead projectors and shadow play all used to explore the textures, mood, and charisma of each piece.
